Youth Development Leader 

Locations: Somers, Mahopac, Pleasantville and North Salem

The Community YMCA is currently hiring Youth Development Leaders for the 2016-2017 school year! The Youth Development Leader is the on site supervisor for YMCA Before & After School programs; locations available in Somers, Mahopac, Pleasantville and North Salem. This individual should have strong supervision and leadership skills. The YD Leader will ensure that the program is well run and provides a safe, nurturing environment for all children. This person will oversee all staff on-site, create monthly program plans, and interact positively with parents, school administration, co-workers, and YMCA administration.

Required education: At least an Associate Degree (or a minimum of 18 college credits) in child development/education/recreation/psychology

Required experience: Minimum of two years professional experience in the child care field

Must pass full background check including fingerprinting & state central clearance

Salary range: $11-$13/hour varies based on experience

YOUTH DEVELOPMENT Counselors

Locations: Somers, Mahopac, Pleasantville and North Salem

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Interacting with children on a daily basis; encouraging child’s interaction within the program and with other children.
  • Assist and participate in all program activities.
  • Ensure children have a positive, fun, safe experience while at the program.
  • Maintain proper supervision of children meeting NYS OCFS ratio regulations.
  • Uphold overall health and safety of each child enrolled in program.

Required education: High School Diploma or equivalent (or currently enrolled in school)
Required experience: Previous experience working with children under 13 year
Must be at least 16 years of age.

Salary range: $9-$10/hour varies based on experience
