Healthy Kids Day 4/ 21/12

Each year in April, more than 1800 YMCA’s around the nation celebrate the YMCA Healthy Kids® Day—the nation’s largest health day for kids and families. YMCA Healthy Kids Day 2012 will be celebrated in all our programs. Kids will enjoy fresh fruit and healthy snacks and particapte in crafts and games to encourage them to adopt behaviors that support a healthier lifestyle.

YMCA 9th Annual Family & Friends Day 6/2/12

Come join us on Saturday June 2^nd from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at Pequenakonck Elementary School on June Road inNorth Salem! 

This is our biggest fundraiser for our Strong Kids Campaign; the funds raised will go directly to support local families with their child care needs. Last year we provided over $40,000 in assistance to families to ensure no child was turned away from our camps, preschool, after school and other programs.  Family Fun Day is also much more than just a fundraiser; it is an inexpensive, fun-filled family day full of good times and community spirit.

Kids of all ages get to play on the inflatable rides, enjoy carnival games, face painting, balloon animals, and crafts as well as eat a variety of foods at our concession area. A special attraction is the “Dunk your favorite Staff” contest.   Another highlight of the day is the YMCA Talent show featuring acts from all our childcare programs as well as a special performance from the YMCA staff.

Wristbands can be purchased before the day of the event for $20 or on the day of the event for $25. Wristbands entitle each child to unlimited use of the inflatable rides, plus 12 carnival games tickets.  (Adults are free).

Annual Somers Halloween Parade &  Festival 10/20/12

Since 1996 the Community YMCA has led the children and families of Somers in a fun celebration of Halloween. We invite everyone to come in your costumes to march in our parade or cheer on the marchers! This free event offers families a number of exciting activities such as costume contest, music and games, and some pre-Halloween excitement in a safe and friendly environment.

After the parade join us for a fun family festival filled with games, crafts and rides. All proceeds go to the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign to provide scholarships to local families.
